I've been having a lot of fun making
this series of demonstration videos. They give me a chance to learn how to
use my video camera as well as the editing software. They also give me a
chance to try and develop a video style that uses text explanations
instead of oral instruction. I found that I can make better editing
decisions if I don't have to worry about audio. I can spend time while I'm
editing to figure out exactly the best place and the best time to insert a
text block. I don't have to worry about scripting or think about saying
everything needed at exactly the right time. Most potters are visual
people. They learn by seeing how a technique is done, then by trying it
themselves. I've decided to keep the explanations to a minimum and
hopefully just show how these pots are made. When I decided to make these, I had to figure out who my target audience is. I chose to tailor these primarily for intermediate and advanced potters. Therefore, I'm assuming the viewer already is comfortable with wedging, centering and making basic forms. With these videos I hope to demonstrate some fun techniques that potters can try. Beginning potters may not be ready for some of these things, but at least I hope to inspire them. I also hope that they are fun for non potters to watch as well. If you find the music annoying simply turn the volume off in the player. These videos are posted on my You Tube Channel, The Wad-Mark. If you like these videos, I would encourage you to go there and click on the subscribe button. That way, you will get an e-mail notification every time I upload a new video. You will have to register with You Tube if you aren't already. |
